    NH-U12S Review

NH-D15 Review

NH-D15 Review

"Moving to the load test results, the NH-D15 absolutely outshines everything else. It beats all other coolers even with a single fan and when both the fans are installed, it’s lead over the Corsair H80i (performance mode) is exactly two degrees. This is pretty impressive which makes the NH-D15 a worthy successor of the NH-D14. [...] The next major improvement is in the compatibility department. The Noctua NH-D15 offers way superior memory compatibility as compared to the older cooler. Memory compatibility has been coming a major issue recently since the size of both CPU cooler and memory heatsinks are getting bigger and bigger. However, Noctua has made a very wise design choice which fixes this problem for the most part and that too without effecting the performance much. Coming to the performance, the NH-D15 clearly beats all the other coolers we’ve tested so far and that’s exactly what I expected. It tops our charts and even sits above the Corsair H80i (performance mode). The H80i is one of the high-end closed loop liquid CPU coolers and the NH-D15 is the first cooler in our testing to beat Corsair’s cooler in its performance mode. The performance advantage over the NH-D14 is considerable so all the time that Noctua spent in the R&D obviously paid off."

Test verdict: "So all in all, if you are in market for a high-end CPU cooler, the NH-D15 should be on the top of your list." (Afaq Shahid, ChipLoco.com)

    NH-D15 Review

"Once we overclock the CPU, the minimum score becomes 80.25 celsius, ranging up to 86. At this point, we know that the NH-D15 is indeed an improvement over the NH-D14, and outperforms almost everything in its price range. The only one that comes close is the Phanteks TC14PE (which seems to perform much better on LGA 1150 CPUs compared to LGA 2011, as it has really leaped up our charts from its previous position), but that cooler isn’t without its issues (this test unit is actually falling apart, and I’m not sure how much longer I can test with it. It performs fine though, as you can see). For our noise level tests, we used a decibel meter placed 7cm from the side of each heatsink, ensuring that scores aren’t affected by windflow directly on the microphone. Our meter only goes down to 50 dB, but anything below that from 7cm can be considered extremely quiet. [...] The numbers are certainly more clear, especially when comparing similar products. For instance, both the ThermoLab BARAM 2010 (review upcoming) and the NH-U12S use the same fans, and thus have the same decibel level. However, the U12S had a delta T about 5% lower, so when noise is taken into consideration, the CoolingMark score is 5% lower as well, and much clearer. Similarly, we can look at the NH-D15 and the Phanteks TC14PE, both of which had the same delta temperature. However, the Phanteks is much louder, so again its score reflects this."

Test verdict: "So there you have it – the NH-D15 is tied for the highest performing air cooler we have ever tested, as it comes out of the box. It is even more impressive when you consider the noise level – other coolers may match it, but you pay for that with added noise." (Carl Nelson, hardCOREware.net)

    NH-U12S Review

"When it comes down to it, the NH-U12S proved to be a very powerful tower cooler while managing to fit all of its performance in a smaller, lighter package than most of its competitors. The other knock against most performance tower coolers is the sheer amount of space taken up by the whole apparatus and to this end the U12S is a great addition with its size. The clearance all around the board from the RAM slots to the CPU power heatsinks and even the VGA slot is refreshing."

Test verdict: "All in all the NH-U12S is a quality product with that trademark Noctua premium feel. The larger amount of space is a pleasant thing to see and even in double fan mode the NH-U12S will provide clearance for the newer quad-channel RAM motherboards. With all this performance in a smaller, easy to install package it is nice to see that the age of the air cooler has not yet passed." (William Deborde, LanOC.org)
