Brand profile

Noctua’s award-winning, premium quality quiet cooling components are internationally renowned for their superb acoustics, industry-leading performance-to-noise efficiency and remarkable longevity. Since its foundation in 2005, the Austrian manufacturer’s engineering-first mindset, history of innovations and relentless pursuit of continuous optimisation have become just as iconic as its long-term product support and excellence in customer service. Today, PC enthusiasts and industry clients alike swear by the signature blend of cutting-edge performance, outstanding quietness and ultimate reliability that makes Noctua’s products unique.

History

Noctua originates from a collaboration between the Austrian Rascom Computerdistribution Ges.m.b.H. and the Taiwanese cooling specialist Kolink International Corporation. Established in 2005, Noctua quickly developed into one of the most acclaimed suppliers of premium quality quiet cooling products.

Over the years, the Austrian brand has shaped the PC cooling market through its distinctive, engineering-driven approach to product design, a history of continuous innovation and its unyielding commitment to long-term customer support. By 2025, Noctua’s fans and heatsinks have received more than 7000 awards and recommendations from expert reviewers of international hardware websites, magazines and YouTube channels.

While Noctua originated from and is still firmly rooted in the field of PC cooling, the outstanding performance-to-noise efficiency and remarkable longevity of Noctua’s fans and heatsinks soon spurred interest from various other industries. To meet this demand, Noctua started offering customisations and thermal engineering consulting services for industrial clients in 2008. Since then, Noctua components are successfully cooling network and storage solutions, lighting devices, medical equipment, greenhouses, office pods and various other appliances.

About Rascom

Founded in Vienna, Austria in the year 2000 by Alexandra and Roland Mossig, Rascom Computerdistribution quickly developed into a specialist for high grade cooling components. In addition to the growing overclocking trend and tailor-made, more powerful heatsinks, acoustically optimised components soon became a key focus.

As of 2002, Rascom acted as an OEM supplier for one of the then-leading European quiet cooling brands and in 2005, the company took the next step: In cooperation with its development and manufacturing partner Kolink International, Rascom launched Noctua.

While Rascom originally continued to pursue its regular distribution business, Noctua soon became the exclusive focus, growing from a newcomer in the field to a renowned leader in its market segment. Between the founding of Noctua in 2005 and 2025, Rascom grew from 10 to over 80 employees. Since 2012, Rascom is also operating a dedicated R&D department in Linköping, Sweden.

Until today, Rascom remains a founder-owned, founder-run business. Regardless of its considerable growth and structural evolution over the years, the Viennese company is still a family business in the best sense of the word: Its long-term continuity in management, vison and key responsibilities as well as its positive, enabling and inclusive work culture are a key backdrop of Noctua’s success.

At Noctua, people are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that a culture of respect, curiosity, and long-term thinking empowers our team to grow — and to create products that truly stand apart.

Vienna headquarters

Rascom’s Vienna headquarters are at the very heart of Noctua’s operations. From strategic vision, product management, business analytics, international sales, industrial client relations to engineering, technical validation, visual design, marketing, customer support, logistics and warehousing – this is where the threads come together.

At Noctua, we’ve always believed that true quality stands the test of time. We’re not just building fans and heatsinks; we’re building trust that lasts.

About Kolink

Kolink International Corporation is a Taiwanese cooling specialist established in 1995 and well known among industry insiders. Before the foundation of Noctua, Kolink operated as an OEM, designing and manufacturing many top-performing heatsinks that succeeded under various brand names in international markets.

Shortly after co-founding Noctua in 2005, Kolink stopped supplying other brands to focus exclusively on its own, channelling all its thermal engineering expertise into the new project. Since then, Kolink has grown from 20 to over 200 employees and continually expanded both its R&D and manufacturing capabilities. Today, all key steps of heatsink manufacturing such as heatpipe production, heatsink assembly, soldering and base convexity control are done in-house at Kolink’s factory.

Just like Rascom, Kolink is still a founder-owned, founder-run family business with long-term continuity in leadership positions: Co-founder Kuo-Jen (Tim) Chu has led Kolink as CEO since the very beginning, his son Shih-Hsiang (Alex) Chu has advanced to the CTO position in 2021 and other key employees have been on board for more than 20 years.

At Noctua, Kolink is not only responsible for supply chain management, manufacturing, packaging and on-site quality control, but also contributes to R&D and handles international export logistics.

Manufacturing at Noctua is not just about production — it’s about craftsmanship. Each product embodies our pride in lasting quality and our dedication to uncompromising precision.
