The main takeaway here is the NF-A12x25 G2 PWM is an excellent fan for watercooling, not that it was going to be a big surprise given its predecessor (in blue for context) was quite good too. In fact, we see the newer version basically being able to push out more air under the same testing conditions, which also results in some added airflow noise too. The actual sound profile is also leaning more towards the lower mid frequencies than the highs, meaning the fan doesn't sound high-pitched or even elevated to the ears. When compared to the rest of the field, we see the Noctua NF-A12x25 G2 PWM finds itself among the very best for pure performance while being squarely in the middle for generated noise, which bodes well for people prioritizing one or the other—or both!
Instead of having CFM/dBA charts that can potentially be taken for more than they really offer, I am going to show a few other fans as a comparison for further context. These include the subject of this review—the Noctua NF-A12x25 G2 PWM—in addition to a few other fans that will undoubtedly be considered by those who are in the market for this one. These include the Phanteks T30-120 (30 mm thick), the Lian Li UNI FAN P28 (28 mm thick), and of course the predecessor NF-A12x25 itself. All of these are high performance LCP rotor fans, with the former two being thicker than usual too. I could also have added the likes of the Thermaltake TOUGHFAN 12 Pro, but really the NF-A12x25 manages to best even these thicker fans from a performance/noise basis pretty much the entire way already!
