Basically the NH-D15 G2 is almost unbelievably quiet across its entire RPM range, there's never any odd sounds coming from these fans and that also leads to it scaling in a very linear fashion when we compare RPM to noise levels. [...] If we place the new D15 G2 in its standard configuration here, it's evident that Noctua did something amazing with temperatures that are a solid 3° lower than the original but it gets even better than that with the high convexity base version which puts down some just crazy numbers being the first air cooler we've ever tested to get below the 70° mark at just 36 dB and add those ILM washers and it can really fly, essentially matching one of the better 240 mm AIOs we've tested recently. Moving upwards to 253 Watts and this is where the old D15 ended up struggling just a bit against competitors that were engineered for LGA 1700 CPUs but now that Noctua has had the chance to do that too, well the standard G2 puts down numbers that I actually thought would be impossible for an air cooler.
