The Noctua NH-D15 G2 offers a solid cooling improvement of up to 4-5 °C on processors like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, largely thanks to the included AMD offset mounting. When factoring out the offset mount, the new cooler still maintains a 2 °C advantage over the original NH-D15, though the new NF-A14x25r G2 PWM fans run slightly louder at the exact same RPM. The massive heatsink still presents familiar clearance challenges with tall RAM modules and the top PCIe slot when using the offset position. Ultimately it is a great evolution of the classic design, but current NH-D15 owners might find better value in simply upgrading their fans, while new buyers will have to weigh the premium price against the older model.
